Since I decided to be stupid and turn into a blonde and ruined my hair, i CANNOT get my hair to curl nice! I refuse to use an iron because it makes my nightmare worse. I have tried every kind of roller, hot rollers, the cheap velcro-like rollers, the plastic ones, foam ones... i also have used different products and set them dry vs. wet, and even slept with them over night, but nothing seems to hold the curl or make them pretty. They either look like an 80's fro or dont curl at all or just look freakin weird. please tell me the RIGHT way to set my hair in rollers! thank you!! xoxoxo

More athletic portrait stuff. This would be my nephew-in-law, who runs cross-country for his high school.

This was an experiment and learning experience. I was trying to work about a stop above ambient to freeze the motion when the flash went off. I used a 1/40th second shutter speed and tracked the runner to add motion blur the background, but used the flash (on a stand, camera right) to stop him sharp.

I probably needed to be 2 stops above ambient for this to pop the way I wanted it to. Or, more accurately, 2 stops above the background behind his face. To make that happen in this photo , I needed two speedlights on the stand, instead of 1. Yeah, I could have gone full power, but then recycle times would have gone to hell.

Lighting Info: Bare Sigma 530 DG Super Camera left, 1/2 power (I think) with a 1/4 CTO filter. The Sigma was triggered by an on camera 550EX set to rear curtain sync.

Oh and this wasn't that warm in Aperture. I'm seeing a serious color shift here between Aperture and Safari, for some reason. Ain't technology grand?

i have a quick question;

i'm going to attempt white hair after having tried every other color under the sun. my hair is in good condition, but i want to keep it as healthy as possible throughout the process.

would you recommend doing a protein treatment before or after bleaching? how about multiple times? also, what's your favorite conditioner(other than shimmer-lights which i'll definitely be getting)for this process?

any other general advice? i definitely know what i'm doing, i just want to have as much info as possible. ^.^

January 25th, 2010: I have a hair appointment. Cut & Color.
I need ideas!
I'm growing my hair out.
I dunno if I should get bangs and just trim the rest of my hair...?
Or continue to grow out my bangs and just trim my hair?
And what about color?!
I kinda want to re do the blonde in my bangs and keep being brunette, but I literally am just baffled at what to do. Any color placement, hair color, or HAIR CUT ideas for someone growing out their hair would be appreciated!
I love the 20-40's, btu am open to any ideas. I want to still shine through.
